FAMILY SHABBAT - AROUND THE DINNER TABLE
Ner Tamid is an exceptionally welcoming, inclusive, truly caring, hamish, engaging and dedicated egalitarian Conservative congregation devoted to fostering a genuinely warm Jewish community in Poway, CA.
Once a month, our community comes together to pray, sing, learn, laugh and experience life together, all around the shabbat table. Family Shabbat is a truly one of a kind experience, one that we invite you and your family to share in.
There is something magical here - an energy that you can feel, a love for each other. We are not a corporate synagogue - we are the shul that you grew up in, where all your friends went.

1. FUN, ACTIVE LEARNING
Do you remember camp? Do you remember your friends? Of course you do. You also remember most of what you learned at camp. Our program is highly experiential, with an emphasis on camp-style informal programming. Our mission is to have as much fun as possible while learning, in order to create a positive Jewish experience that our learners will look back on with big grins.
2. HEBREW DECODED
Hebrew reading can be hard. This year, we are instituting a proven curriculum for K-3 - Hebrew Today. The program breaks down Hebrew reading in a fun, easy way. Written by Professor Zev bar-Lev of UCSD, PhD in liguistics, our program gives our students a limited but functional vocabulary base that enables them to pick up on Hebrew reading intuitively. You will be amazed at how quickly our students become confident, fluent Hebrew readers. Read all about it here!
3. OUR UNIQUE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Our graduates have so much fun at our school, that they want to pay it forward. Our volunteers help our students and teachers in every aspect of the school - it is a truly amazing sight to see.
